ENTREPRENEUR CREDITS CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION OF ULSTER COUNTY FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS

Seek North Co-founders, Philippe Trinh & Julian Lesser

KINGSTON, N.Y. — A successful entrepreneur recently wrote to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County to say his success began with the extension's food preservation program.

Philippe Trinh, an award-winning co-founder, with Julian Lesser, of Seek North Kombucha,  wrote to extension nutrition educator Janie Geenwald, “One day I was in your class just learning about fermentation and now my partner and I have a successful fermented beverage company.”

Initially, Trinh was interested in learning how to preserve leftovers from his garden harvest. But when his partner, Julian, came down with Lyme disease that wasn’t cured (soley) by antibiotics, Trinh turned to experimentation with kombucha. His experiments led to the birth of Seek North.
